Established in 1986 by the Government of Odisha, Government Polytechnic, Dhenkanal was founded with the vision of promoting women's participation in technical education. Originally known as Women's Polytechnic, Dhenkanal, our institution served under that name until 05.1.2011. The institute was redesignated as Government Polytechnic, Dhenkanal through Government of Orissa, Industries Department Resolution No.IX-TTI-05/2011 232/I on 05.1.2011.
The institute operates under the administrative oversight of the Director of Technical Education & Training & Industries Department, Government of Odisha. We are affiliated with the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Odisha, Bhubaneswar and hold approval from AICTE, New Delhi.
Currently, the institute functions under the administrative purview of the Skill Development & Technical Education (SDTE) Department, Government of Odisha.
Our institution is conveniently located 8 km from Dhenkanal Railway Station and 3 km from the Government Bus Stand. Situated 90 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar and 60 km from Cuttack city, the institute enjoys excellent connectivity through both road and rail networks.
The campus spans across 10.42 acres in Mahisapat Mouza, owned by the Industries Department, Government of Odisha. Our single, unified campus houses the workshop, academic building, administrative building, and student hostels, providing a complete educational environment within one location.
